I’m sure we’ve all noticed the change in birthday parties for kids since we were younger – we used to have cake, gifts from our parents, and family members singing happy birthday. When our parents really wanted to make a big deal out of it, they’d throw us a party at the local McDonald’s, where the restaurant would have some characters entertain the kids, some music, and that was about it.

These days – birthday parties for toddlers and older kids are getting more and more elaborate. These parties now include themes, invites for lots of kids and their parents, cool venues, entertainment, loads of food, multi-layered cakes, etc. My lil’ girl’s birthday is in May, and I’m already thinking of creative ways to make her day special.

It seems this change in birthday party celebrations for kids is everywhere – as seen in this article written about the subject. Interesting read and food for thought.
